Pistol Caliber Carbines


A pistol caliber carbine (PCC) is basically a long gun that is chambered in a cartridge that has traditionally been used in a handgun. They can be semiautomatic, bolt action, pump action, or lever action.

  • MP5 clones vary widely in quality to a point where even if you shell out $1000, you still don’t know what you will get.
  • Parts support can be spotty since they are not really ubiquitous on the civilian firearms market

  • The longer barrel helps cartridges like the .357 Magnum and the .44 Magnum really live up to their potential.
  • Revolver cartridges that are often uncomfortable to shoot in a revolver are actually pleasant to shoot out of a long gun
  • More “politically correct” in certain jurisdictions

  • Easy to suppress

  • Try to ensure easy modularity with your 5.56 lower receiver
    • Deployment

    These guns make great backup rifles for home defense as well as a long gun for a loved one who is not comfortable with a shotgun.

    They can also be used to train others on long guns.
