The father of the 16-month-old child shot dead in his stroller is not cooperating with investigators trying to find his son’s killer, according to cops.

Little Antiq Hennis was shot in the head in Brownsville Sunday night.

The boy’s 23-year-old father, Anthony Hennis, has been arrested 23 times, police sources said, mostly for drugs.

Detectives believe the shooter was attempting to get back at Hennis for an earlier dispute, according to sources.

“He was definitely the intended target,” a police source said.

Hennis is refusing to help investigators, NYPD Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Monday.

But Anthony’s grandmother, Lenore Steel, 72, who was sitting nearby when the baby was shot, said her grandson would do anything for his baby.

“He can’t live without that baby,” Steel said. “He’s always with him. That baby is his life.”

The child’s father, Anthony Hennis, was the intended target, police sources said.

The distraught dad turned to his grandmother after little Antiq took a bullet to the head on Bristol St. near Livonia Ave., near the family’s Riverdale Ave. home.

“He said, ‘Grandma, my baby got shot!’” she said.

“The baby was bleeding.”

Little Antiq was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he died about 90 minutes later.

Steel recalled the baby’s innocence.

“He liked looking at Sponge Bob,” she said.

“He liked Dora [the Explorer]. He loved to eat. He was so adorable since he started walking.”

Neighborhood activists claimed to have identified the shooter. Police say they have nobody in custody.

“We know exactly who the shooter is,” said activist Tony Herbert.

“We are making efforts to bring him in.”

Mayoral candidate Bill Thompson appeared with the baby’s family at a press conference at the shooting scene Monday morning.

“When a child is lost, it touches everyone,” Thompson said.

“I don’t think it’s anything we can imagine.”

Bishop Willie Billips, with Faith Hope and Charity House of God, spent the night comforting the family.

“The family is suffering,” he said. “The mother is hurting.”

The baby’s mother briefly came outside her home to thank supporters but was too devastated to say more.

She could be heard wailing inside the family’s home shortly after.

I am guessing it is that “don’t call the cops” mentality. I got news for people, when there is trouble, the police are who I look to for back-up. This guy knows who killed his kid and sadly he probably thinks he is upholding the code by not working with police. He is only failing his poor son. My youngest daughter and her husband think that way, It is very troubling.
